How Did I Do With My Oscar Predictions?
Well, The 82nd Academy Awards has come to a close last night. There were quite a few categories in last night’s show that were pretty predictable, and some that surprised me; especially some that won. I’ve enjoyed watching this award show for many years since I love movies and I don’t care for that “who has the best dress” crap. All I care about is the movies; film has been an interest of mine for many years, so much that I’ve ALWAYS wanted to become a director/producer. I hope that time comes someday. But anywho, Below I’ll list out the categories with my predicted winner, along with the real winner from last night’s show. I’ll highlight the categories in red where I’ve made the right prediction. So, that’s all of the categories. I can’t believe that I totally forgot about the Best Directing category in my Oscar prediction article!
Anyways, I did somewhat OK… actually horribly POOR in predicting the Oscars. I went 9-24 on getting the right predictions. If this was a test/quiz, I would’ve failed with a 37.5% grading. The main thing that really surprised me and caught me off-guard out of this 82nd Oscars was the film The Hurt Locker.
Sure a lot of people and my co-workers said that the film was really good, but I didn’t expect to see it win 6 Oscars (I only had the film to win 1, which was in the Writing (Original Screenplay) category). You would’ve expected to see Avatar to be the big winner of last night’s show, which many were predicting; however, I’m guessing that a ton of us out there were really caught off-guard with The Hurt Locker.
A lot of times when it comes to the Academy Awards, whoever wins Best Directing usually wins Best Picture, thus is what we’ve witnessed last night.
